Ready in time for Christmas

This month we preview still more toys that should be out in time for Christmas. This is the biggest time of year for toy makers, and here's a look at what they've got in store for us.

Lord of the Rings 2 action figures

ToyBiz gave us a glimpse of their new Lords of the Rings toys at 2002 San Diego Comic Convention, and now they're ready to ship. This series of action figures will feature detailed characters based on the up and coming movie, "The Two Towers". The characters will have features only found in the 2nd movie, and will be different from the figures released from the last film. Characters featured in the first assortment include: Saruman, Theoden, Éomer, Wormtongue, Rohirrim Soldier, and Aragorn. From assortment 2, you can expect to find The Archer, The Berserker, Grishnakh, Merry, Pippin, Ugluk. Both series will be out before December.

Santa Claus Toy Series

Back in the 70's, there were popular animated holiday specials for kids that aired around Christmas time. These Rankin Bass animated holiday specials stopped being aired, but have recently been brought back to life in the world of toys. The past few years have seen figures from various specials show up, being developed by Diamond Select Toys. This holiday season, "The Year Without a Santa Claus" will be making an appearance in toy form. Figures included in this series will be Mrs. Claus, the Elves, the Reindeer and, of course, Santa Claus himself.

Resident Evil, Series Three

Just in time for the holidays, Palisades Toys will be bringing out series three of their popular Resident Evil toys. The latest series will feature characters from 3 RE games, RE, RE2 and Code: Veronica. Characters include, Wesker, Chris, William Birkin, and the Tyrant. This time around, a lot of extra detail has gone into the monster design. William Birkin, for example, comes with all the mutations found from Resident Evil 2. This series should already be available in stores.

Thor Statue

Diamond Select Toys will be bringing out a series of character statues from the Marvel Universe. The first of which is Thor. Based on the popular comic book series of the same name, the statue is made of resin and comes with every bit of detail you'd expect. The statue should be out now, other sets to follow in November and December.

Masters of the Universe new series

Now that the "Masters of the Universe" cartoon is up and running, Mattel has continued to bring out new action figures based on the show. The new sets, will feature all the familiar characters from the previous series of toys, but with new weapons and costumes. He-man, for one, will be equipped with a new Battle Axe and armor, along with his regular sword of Grayskull. Other regulars of the show, including Skeletor, Man-At-Arms, Stratos, and Battle-Cat, will also come with their new weapons and accessories.

Also from the He-man Universe, is a new series of Matchbox cars. Cars are even popular on Eternia it seems, as each hero and villain of the cartoon have their own vehicle.

Army fun, from 21st Century Toys

Army toys from 21st Century Toys shown at the International Model & Hobby Expo, will be in stores by November. Everything from life-sized tanks to fully equipped infantry action figures are to be included in this impressive lineup. Along with the action figures and vehicle models of all sizes, this toy maker has developed terrain accessories as well including bridges, trenches, pillboxes and more.

New Batman Vehicles

Playing Mantis will be bringing out a new line of Batman vehicles. The vehicles will all be based on the classic TV show, and not the movies from the 90's. In this new series, fans of the show will find the Batplane, Batboat, Batcylce, and Batmobile. The models are based on a similar series made in the 1950's.
